FRED CENTER

GREER - Fred Center, 71, of 4 Second St., died in a Greenville hospital Sunday at 2:15 a.m. after a brief illness.

He was a native of North Carolina, son of the late Jesse H. and Ida Carner Center. He lived in Greer 60 years and retired from J.P. Stevens Victor Plant after 35 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rosa Rodgers Center; four daughters, Mrs. Agnes Green of Leesburg, Ga., Mrs. Minnie Lee Gowan of Gastonia, N.C., Miss Lois Center and Miss Mildred Center of the home; a son, James F. Center of Greer; a half-brother, Robert Franklin of Morganton, N.C.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesady at 4 p.m. at Wood Mortuary by Rev. Ansel Pruitt, Dr. R.P. Lamb and Rev. Edmond Poole. Burial will be in Wood Memorial park.

Pallbearers will be Joseph and Julian Allen, James L. Center, Claude D. Flemming, Buddy Bennett and June Pruitt.

The body is at the mortuary where the family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
