DEATH OF MRS. HENRY COWGILL; SERVICES MONDAY

Mrs. Anna McDonald Cowgill, 89, widow of Henry S. Cowgill, who was a prominent Carthage miller died at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Ozarks Home Nursing Center, 1803 South Main Street.

In failing health several years, Mrs. Cowgill was a patient for some months in McCune-Brooks Hospital prior to last March when she ws moved to the Nursing Center, operated by the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis.

Mrs. Cowgill was born June 21, 1878 in Wheeling, West Virginia. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William R. McDonald, later moved to Winfield, Kansas. Mr. McDonald was a merchant in Winfield and moved his establishment from Kansas to Carthage. He was in the dry goods business on the north side of the Carthage square a number of years.

The former Anna McDonald was married in 1902 in Carthage to Henry S. Cowgill, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cowgill, early day residents here. H. C. Cowgill founded the Cowgill Milling Company in Carthage and later his sons, H. S. Cowgill and Lloyd Cowgill, took over the operation of the business, now owned by the Norris Grain Company.

Mrs. Cowgill was a member of the First Methodist Church. During her younger years she was active in the civic and social life of Carthage.

Surviving are a son,
Henry S. Cowgill, Jr. Monroe, Michigan

a grandson, H. S. Cowgill III and
four great-grandchildren

Mr. Cowgill died November 13, 1946.

Knell Mortuary
The Rev. Edward A. Neimeyer, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated.

Evening of Thursday, June 7 1934 at Carthage, Missouri's Drake Hotel, Anna and husband Henry were on the fifty one member reception committee to welcome their friends of over forty years, Colonel Carl Raymond and wife Harriette (Flora) Gray to Carthage Homecoming. They also entertained the Grays for lunch at their home.
