Members of their household included two sons, George W. & Calvin, ages 12 & 9, and his widowed mother-in-law, Emily, age 73 (born in TN in February 1827. She had given birth to 8 children, 7 of whom were living.
Gus died in their home in Newport, Clay Co, TX from Lobar Pneumonia about 4 p.m. on February 15, 1910. He had lived 61 years & 4 months. He was buried the same day.
