Funeral Services Held Friday 1949
In Prescott

Funeral service for Mrs. Mamie Phillips were held in the Baptist church at Prescott at 2:30 Firday afternoon, conducted by Rev Erwin Van Til. Music was furnished by Grayce Millier sining a solo and Mrs. O. V. Washler and Mrs. Miller singing a duet, accompanied by Rowe Grigsby, pianist.

Mamie J. Phillips, daughter of John and Rebecca Cannon, was born Sept., 3, 1880 near Emporia Kansas. She departed this life on May 25, 1949 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Crandall Holmes.

She was married to J. W. Phillips on November 15, 1817 [note: a typo in the newspaper article, year was 1897], and to this union seven children were born. Her husband and two sons Marion and Andrew have gone before her.

She was converted when a young girl, was baptised and became a member of the Rock Hill United Brethren Church in the year 1910. She later became a member of the Prescott Baptist church and remained so all the days of her life.

She was a faithful Christian and regular in her church attendance. She was interested in her friends and family.

She leaves to mourn her going tow sons and three daughters all of Prescott, namely: Melvin and Lawrence; Mrs. Alta Allen, Mrs. Cleo Holmes and Mrs. Frances Casteel; thirteen grandchilren, three great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Roy Cannon, Ed Phillips, Lloyd Phillips, Ralph Coon, Artie Mayhugh and Lloyd Stark. Burial was made in the family lot of the Prescott cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Phillips, who died May 25 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Crandall Holmes, were held May 28 at the Baptist church here, conducted by the Rev. Edwin Van Til. Music was furnished by Mrs. Grace Miller, soloist, and a duet by Mrs. O.V. Washler and Mrs. Miller, accompanied by Rowe Grigsby.
Interment was in eh Prescott cemetery. Palbearers were Roy Cannon, Ed Phillips Lloyd Phillips, Ralph Coon, Arti Mayhugh and Lloyd Stack.
