KINGWOOD (formerly of Lindale and Hideaway) - Graveside services for Mr. John Lewis "Bully" Bailey, age 88, of Kingwood and formerly of
Lindale, Tyler and Hideaway, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, in the Lindale City Cemetery. Services are under the
direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale. Mr. Bailey died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, in Kingwood.
He was born in Forney on Oct. 26, 1919, to William Sorell and Nora Frances Bibby Bailey. He grew up and attended school in Lindale, attended Tyler Commercial College, and was formerly of Hideaway before moving to Kingwood in 2004. Mr. Bailey retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad as a Revenue Clerk after over 40 years of service. Mr. Bailey served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lindale. He was active in coaching Little League, Pony League and American Legion Baseball. Mr. Bailey was also a member of the St. John's Lodge in Tyler, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Frances Bailey on March 8, 2001; a son, John Lewis Bailey Jr.; and a sister, Martha Conway.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Carol Bailey of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Brent Nowell of Kingwood; three grandchildren, Clint Nowell of Waco, Ginger Morrison of Athens, and Brandon Buford of Coppell; and seven great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Carter, Jimmy Stripling, Scotty Cates, Jackie Albright, Barry Mayo and Clint Nowell.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
