COWDEN — Eldo F. "Dode" Banning, 99, of Cowden passed away at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Shelbyville Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden. The Rev. Tim Boyd will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Cowden. Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com.
Dode was born July 31, 1911, in Shelby County, the daughter of Elmer and Anna Meir Koss. She married Frank Banning on Dec. 16, 1933, and he died June 9, 1975.
Dode was a loving homemaker for her family and a doting grandma and great-grandma. She was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Cowden. She formerly was a clerk in Johnsons Grocery Store in Cowden and worked for Cowden Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a son, Rodger (wife, Kaye) Banning of Cowden; grandsons, Michael Griffith of Mount Zion and Bradley Banning of Cowden; and great-grandson, Nicholas Banning of Cowden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Copie" Banning; her parents; daughter, Inez Griffith; and grandson, Brian Banning.
