Frederick H. Gaeth age 90, of Pigeon formerly of Richmond, died Monday morning, October 5, at Tender Care, Cass City. He was born August 14, 1919, in Unionville to the late August and Lena (Schoening) Gaeth. Fred was a graduate of Unionville High School and was the last surviving man from the Class of 1937. He was united in marriage to Hortense Parker on January 11, 1941, in Unionville. They lived in Caro for a time, where he was employed at the Federal Landbank Assn. He was later transferred to the Richmond office where he retired as manager in 1980 with 30 years of service. Hortense preceded him in death April 1, 1991. On February 14, 1992, he married Viola Sopha in St. Clair; she also preceded him in death in the fall of 2000. That year, he moved to Pigeon to be nearer his family. Fred was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Berne and was an avid Tiger Fan no matter what their standing. He also enjoyed shooting pool and did countless crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, October 8, at St. John Lutheran Church, Berne. Rev. James Gorsengner, pastor will officiate with burial in Marysville Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
