MOWERS, Bruce Nelson, Msgt (Ret) was born in Fond du Lac, Wisc., on November 9, 1932. He brought his family to the Antelope Valley (Edwards AFB) in 1971. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 and moved to Lancaster, Calif. He went to be with our Heavenly Father and his soul mate Mary Ann on October 12, 2009. He served his country in both the Korean and the Vietnam campaigns. Among many military awards, the US Air Force presented Bruce with the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service and the Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a past Commander for the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1404 and currently the Communications AVARC. He was an honorable man, giving friend and loving father to his three sons. He is survived by his three sons: David of Las Vegas, NV.; Kenneth of Long Beach, and Robert of Yuba City, Calif., close friend and caregiver Steve Petzoldt, four grandchildren: Cindy, Matthew, Louis and Ainsley. He is also survived by his sister Betty Winters of Vista, Calif. and his brother Robert L. Mowers of Yuma Ariz. Bruce loved to actively celebrate life. He was a MARS and Ham Radio Operator, an avid rock hound and enjoyed astronomy, geocaching and completing the Sunday crossword puzzles in pen. Bruce will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. He is remembered as a master of all trades. It is said that every man dies, yet not every man really lives. Bruce Mowers lived life to the fullest.
