Thomas L. Condon, Sr., 74 of Clearfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at his residence.
Born on March 12, 1935 in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of Matthew Thomas and Grace Cecilia (Johnson) Condon.
Mr. Condon was employed with G.C. Murphy from 1952 to 1965. He began his employment with Kurtz Bros. on April 5, 1965 and retired on March 14, 1997. After his retirement, Mr. Condon assisted in transporting cars for C.Classic Dodge in Clearfield.
Mr. Condon was protestant by faith. He was a member of the Clearfield Masonic Lodge #314 F&AM and had served as Past Master of the Clearfield Masonic Temple. Mr. Condon was also a member of the Old Town Sportsmen's Association, having served as President for twenty one years.
He served on the United Way Board of Directors in 1974, 1975, and 1977. Mr. Condon served as President of the Board in 1976. He was an active campaign worker for the United Way for seventeen years, having volunteered in 1973-1975 and 1978-1992.
Mr. Condon is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn A. (Swales) Condon, whom he married on January 22, 1954; three children: Thomas L. Condon, Jr., Pamela A. Condon and Matthew A. Condon and his wife Nancy all of Clearfield; six grandchildren: Jennifer Behel, Andrew Allen, Todd L. Condon, Shawna Prosser, Maxwell Condon and Stephanie Condon; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Larry Condon, Marsha Diane Condon and her husband Tom Brown all of New York City, NY and Marshall Condon and his wife Terry of Riverside, CT. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Rodger J. Gorton officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the hour of services.
A Masonic service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 P.M.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association of Western PA, P.O. Box 100. Warrendale, PA 15086-0100.
