John Smith and Julia Smith are listed on the 1880 Mulberry, Lincoln County, Tennessee census with their children Willie age 09, Adelade age 06, Eva age 04, Nina (Eula) age 03 and Paul Smith age 4m showing he was born in February of 1880.

Following the death of his mother William Russell Smith moved to Williamson County, Texas.

William Russell Smith met Ellen McNeese, a "beautiful" young lady living in McNeil, Travis County, Texas. Their Marriage License was issued in Travis County, Texas filed in Volume 09, page 132; William R. Smith and Ellen McNeese December 03, 1895. Their Marriage was performed by James M. Shannon ordained Minister, M. E. Church South, 04 December 1895 in Round Rock, Texas.

The 1900 Justice Precinct 8, Williamson County, Texas, census lists Wm R Smith age 29, birth date Feb 1871, birthplace Kansas, head of house married to "Allice" (should read Ellen Elizabeth); married 1895, Household Members: Wm R Smith age 29, Allice (should read Ellen Elizabeth) Smith age 22, and daughter Lucile Smith age 03.

The 1910 Justice Precinct 1, Williamson County, Texas lists W. R. Smith age 39, head of house married 14 years, wife Ellen Smith and his father John Smith are living in the household, occupation farmer; Household Members are shown as: W R Smith age 39, John Smith age 63 (his father); Ellen Smith age 32 (wife) children : Lucile Smith age 13, Nelda Smith age 8, Julia Smith age 6, Eula Smith age 4, Charlie Smith age 0.

The 1920 Round Rock, Williamson, Texas United States Federal Census lists William Smith, age 48, married to Ellen E. Smith; living on a farm - owing his land mortgage free. Household Members: William Smith age 48; Ellen E. Smith age 43; Julia E, Smith 16; Eula B. Smith 13; Charlie R, Smith age 10.

The 1930 Precinct 8, Williamson, Texas United States Federal Census lists William R. Smith, birth year 1871 born Kansas married; age of first marriage 25; father's birthplace Tennessee; mother's birthplace Alabama; general farmer. Household Members: William R. Smith age 59; Ellen E Smith age 53; Charlie Smith age 19.

The 1940 Rural Williamson, Texas United States Federal Census lists William R. Smith age 69; living on a farm. Inferred Residence in 1935: Rural, Williamson, Texas Residence in 1935: Rural, Williamson, Texas; Occupation: Farmer, Hours Worked Week Prior to Census: 60; Household Members: William R Smith age 69; Ellen Smith age 63, and two grandsons Wilbur and Frank Myrick. The following five children are listed on the 1940 census living in the household of Mr. William R. Smith and Ellen E. Smith; however, this is either a transcription error or error in information provided the transcriber. All of the five children are married and living at another location. The listed children are: Lucille Smith-Cluck age 43; Nelda Smith-Davis age 38; Julia Smith-Wright age 36; Eula Smith- Myrick age 34; and Charlie R. Smith age 30. Living in the household with Mr. William R. Smith and wife are two grandsons: Wilbur Myrick age 9, (listed as Wilbur Smith and Frank Myrick age 5, (listed as Geonk Smith).

Funeral services for William Russell Smith, age 84, who died Wednesday of the last week, May 18, 1955 (Death Certificate states May 19), were held at three o'clock, Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Round Rock with the Rev. J. R. Heller officiating.

Graveside services were under direction of the IOOF Lodge of Georgetown, and burial was in Capital Memorial Gardens, with Condra Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were: Claude Dedear, Victor Dedear, L. P. Parker, William Kndson, Theo Miles and Eugene Cunningham.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ellen Smith; four daughters, Mr. B. L. Cluck, Mrs Nelda Elam and Mrs. Eula Dedear, all of Round Rock, and Mrs. Julia Wright of Downey, California; a son Charlie Smith of Austin; three sisters, Mrs. C. R. Simmons of Sweetwater, Mrs. Eva Stark of San Angelo and Mrs. Eula Birdwell of Seattle, Washington; also seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was born in Bedford County, Tennessee, on February 6, 1871, and had lived in Texas, in the vicinity of Round Rock, for 61 years. He was married on December 4, 1895, to Ellen McNeese.

Besides the immediate family, out-of-town relatives who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Smith of Port Arthur, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Myrick of San Antionio, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Myrick of Austin, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Davis and family of Seguin. Grand-daughter Mary Louise Thomas of Austin.

Cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Cunningham and daughter of Littlefield; nephews Weldon Smith of Floyada and Harold Smith of Alice; niece Mr. and Mrs. Morris Williams of Ft. Worth. Sister, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Simmons of Sweetwater. There were close friends here from San Antinio, Austin and Georgetown and other places.
