OBITUARY. MRS H. W. VERCOE.
We regret to have to record the death of a very old settler in the person of Mrs H. W. Vercoe who passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs C. H. Perring, No. 2 Road, at a late hour on Wednesday night. The deceased lady, who had reached the great age of 84 years, arrived at Maketu with her husband and family in 1876, and had resided in the district ever since, passing through all the troublous and anxious times that were inseparable from the lives of pioneer settlers. She leaves a family of four sons and four daughters - Messrs H. A., J. L., and C. R , Vercoe, of Te Puke, F. J. Vercoe, of Te Kuiti, and Mesdames E W. and P. F. Boucher, Mrs F. Bostock, and Mrs C. H. Perring. The funeral took place this afternoon, the Rev. J. W. Chapman reading the burial service. TE PUKE TIMES, 13 MAY 1921, PAGE 2
