John Henry Caldwell, 77, died at his home on State Street early this afternoon.
Funeral services will be held from the home at 4 P. M., tomorrow. Interment will be in Laurelwood cemetery. The services will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith of Mt. Holly. He will be assisted by Rev. J. F. Lupo, presiding elder of the Rock Hill District Methodist church.
Mr. Caldwell was born in Chester county, the son of the late W. J. Caldwell and Mrs. Nancy Davis Caldwell both natives of that county. He would have been 78 years old September 13.
He was a resident of the Mount Holly community near here for a number of years and had farming interests there. He moved to Rock Hill about eight Years ago. Mr. Caldwell was a member of Mount Holly church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mattie Rebecca Caldwell and the following children, Z. B. Caldwell, W. H. Caldwell, S. M. Caldwell, J. E. Caldwell and Mrs. Frank Hamilton, Rock Hill; Mrs. J. B. Gallant, of Gainesville, GA; Mrs. A. B. Ross of Fort Mills; Mrs. W. H. Hooey, Mrs. Frank Burgess of Hendersonville, N. C. A brother, W. B. Caldwell of Chester, also survives.
