SIOUX CITY - Lenora Helen Hurley, 93, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Lenora was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Hartington, Neb., to Anna (Anderson) and Otto Bottolfson. She attended country school in northeast Nebraska.
She married Jim Hurley on Nov. 26, 1954, in Elk Point, S.D. She worked at Albertson's during World War II. She also worked as a seamstress, working at Fishgall's, Hovlunds and Aalfs Manufacturing. The couple owned and operated Jackson Transfer and Delivery for 10 years.
Lenora and Jim liked traveling in their motor home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She liked spending time with her family, especially the young children. During her long illness, her husband lovingly cared for her at home for many years. After his passing, the family was thankful for the wonderful care she received at Bickford Cottage and at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley and her husband Jerry Cardwell of Hastings, Minn., and Penny and her husband Forrest Tucker of Elk Point, S.D.; six grandchildren, Sharon and her husband Arnie Wicker of Wyoming, Minn., Carol and her husband Rick Ludwig of Cannon Falls, Minn., Jim Cardwell of Hastings, Minn., Mike Cardwell of San Diego, Calif., Ken Tucker and his wife Kelli of Harrisburg, S.D., and Kelly and her husband Mark DeBoer of Hills, Minn.; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Madeline and her husband Vern Newton of Napa, Calif., Anita Wieseler of Sioux City and Lois Opfer of Hartington, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers; and four sisters.
