Died at Nampa, October 14th, 1898, as a result of blood poisoning and the amputation of his arm in an effort to save his life.

On 24 December, 1857, Levi married Emily Dyer in Laporte, Indiana, and they removed to Marion, Kansas in 1864, joining his uncle William H. Billings. In 1876 he married Carrie Belle Hoops, daughter of Evin and Mary Griffith Hoops. After Levi's death Carrie married Thomas Jefferson McKee in Canyon Co., Idaho, on March 8, 1902

Obituary of Hannahretta M. Jennings Billings, mother of Levi Billings

The long expected though deeply regretted death of Mrs. O.M. Billings mother of H.A. Billings, Probate Judge, occurred in Burlingame on Saturday last, June 2nd, at the residence of the family.

Mrs. Billings was born at Saratoga, NY in 1809. At the age of two years, her parents removed to Monroe County in the same state, then the ‘far west.’ She was married in 1825 and removed in 1837, with her family, to Williams County, Ohio. In 1846 the deceased moved to Lagrange County, Indiana and in 1865 came to Burlingame Kansas, where she resided up to the time of her death. Mrs. Billings and is survived by three sons: Alonzo Dexter and and Levi Billings, reside at Marion Center in this State, and Henry Alson Billings, our well-known probate judge resides at Lyndon.
