In 1930, LeRoy is living in East Mill Creek, Salt Lake Co., UT. Le Roy C. is living with his parents and sister on 27 East Street. He is not attending school. When Roy was about 18, he went to Wyoming, around Big Piney and worked on a cattle ranch. According to Roy, he would move cattle from summer to winter range. He drove from Salt Lake City to Wyoming in his 1943 Ford. In 1943 Leroy joined the Navy Seabee's. He entered the service on 19 Aug 1943. He left the service on March 11, 1946. He was a member of the 302nd Naval Construction Battalion as part of the Philippines Liberation. Company # 3546. He achieved the rank of mailman second class.
