John Holbert enlisted July 1862 the Civil War in the Conferderate Military Unit of the Sixty-fourth Infantry (11th Battalion, Allen's Regiment)Company E of North Carolina.
After John died most of the family moved back to North Carolina, except Monterville, James, Rebecca and Isaac who stayed in Georgia.
