PEKIN, IL ~ Leola Eldert, 96, of 907 St. Julian Street, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009 at her home.
Born August 10, 1913 in Beaver County, Oklahoma to Franklin and Carrie (Wilson) Mahanay, she married William Eldert, Jr. on February 2, 1937 in Guymon, Oklahoma. He died April 3, 1981. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Beulah Ibbotson and Bonnie Browder; one granddaughter; five brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Eulah (Roy) Gargus, Sr. of Manito; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, James Ibbotson of Manito.
A homemaker, Leola enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
