OAKDALE, La., April 17 (Special) -- W. R. Tilton, 77, of Oakdale died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday in the Hargrove Clinic here of terminal pneumonia following injuries sustained from an automobile accident April 3 on U.S. Hwy. 165 in Oakdale. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in his Oakdale home of Maple Street with the Rev. Minns S. Robertson, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating.

Ardoin Funeral Home of Oakdale transported the remains overland to Montgomery, La., where funeral services were held in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church with the Rev. Mrs. Lula Wardlow in charge.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery of Montgomery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife and eight sons, C. E. of Montgomery, W. H., Clarence, Earl, and O. E. of Shreveport; E. D., R. M. and A. M. of Elizabeth; J. M. of Oakdale. Two daughters, Mrs. J. O. Bass, Vicksburg, Miss., and Mrs. C. C. Merchant, DeRidder and two sisters, Mrs. Ella T. Myers of Converse, La. and Mrs. Fannie Luther of Colfax, La.

Also surviving are 39 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
