She attended schools in Wellford, South Carolina. On April 30, 1938 in Jonesboro, Ark., she was united in marriage to Mr. Charles Wofford Bennett. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1972.
She was in the restaurant business for many years, having operated the City Pig in Caruthersville with her husband and working as a waitress at Barbara's Steak House.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Caruthersville, have joined the church in 1950.
She was preceded in death by a step-son, Charles (Buddy) Bennett, and four brothers, Boyce, Elbert, Gary and E.C. Lane.
Survivors include: her daughter Norma Jean Cantrell and her husband Robert of Hayti, Mo.; one step-daughter-in-law, Joy Bennett of Buffalo, Mo.; two step grandchildren, Kimberly Bennett of Buffalo, Mo. and Scott Bennett of Neosho, Mo.; three great grandchildren, Patrick Pery and Lauren Miller both of Caruthersville, Mo. and Matthew Cantrell of Kennett, Mo.; one great great grandchild, Carean Hardesty of Caruthersville, Mo.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. at the Little Prairie Cemetry with Rev. Chas. Stanford officiating.
