Son of Marion Waller Callaway and Anna Caldwell Hamilton Callaway.
Husband of Virginia McComb Miller Callaway.
Robert, who reside at Gordon Heights, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Captain with the 2nd Battalion, 60th Coast Artillery Regiment during World War II.
He "Died While A POW" of the Japanese Army from lack of medical care in Fukuoka Prison Camp on Honshu, Japan after being taken prisoner at Corregidor.
He was in the service for four years and seven months at the time of his death and was awarded the "Silver Star" with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, and the Prisoner of War Medal.
He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on September 27, 1949.
