Services for George L. Downs, 81, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Christian Life Assembly of God with the Revs. D.E. Buchanan and John Murdock officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock.

He died Saturday, July 28, 2001.

He was born July 23, 1920, in Putnam, Okla., and moved to Lubbock in 1950 from Abernathy. He married Ann Eads on July 18, 1945, in Hot Springs, N.M. He attended schools in Abernathy and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the First Cavalry Division.

He was a member of chapter No. 44 of the Disabled American Veterans. He attended Christian Life Assembly of God. He worked for Bill Averitt Construction as a construction supervisor until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Linda Hall of Smithville, Kathy Bryan of Lubbock, Beth Rutherford of Owasso, Okla., and Kayla Hall of Austin; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
