Ortha Lucille Presley Davis age 80 of Middlesboro went to be with the Lord February 27, 2006 in the Middlesboro A.R.H. Born May 23, 1925 in Peabody TN the daughter of the late Simon Presley and Susan Elmore Presley. Ortha was a loving mother and wife, she was active in her church as a member of the Fonde Church of God. Ortha was a home league member of the Salvation Army. She grew up in Tennessee, after her marriage to Arville Davis Sr they made their home in Fonde were she was a coal miner's wife and took care of her family. Ortha was the last member of her mothers and fathers family. Ortha was loved by her family and friends and will be missed.
Ortha was preceded in death by her husband Arville Davis Sr, in 1980 and two sons Arville Davis Jr, 1991 and Herman Davis in 1993.
Survivors include two daughters Janice Meers and Sandra Davis both of Middlesboro. Five sons: Roger Davis, Deland, FL. David Davis, Port Orange, FL. Larry Davis, Ohio. Troy Davis, Avon Park, FL and Ernie Davis, Middlesboro, KY. Special adopted daughter Christine Barry, Middlesboro, KY. 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday March 3rd at Shumate Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Johnson officiating. Music will be by the Fonde Church of God Choir. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday March 2nd at Shumate Funeral Home.
