Death: Dec. 20, 1927

The untimely death of Mrs. Ida Striedel, wife of John Striedel, has cast a deep gloom over a large circle of relatives and friends.

A baby girl was born unto them on the 31st. of October. All seemed well and they were rejoicing over the splendid daughter. A rising temperature several weeks ago was the first evidence of complications setting in. Her condition gradually grew worse. On Tuesday, December 13, it became evident that her condition was critical. On Saturday of the same week she was removed to a local hospital. Every possible medical aid was given her, but to no avail. She was summoned to her reward at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The funeral service was conducted from the home of Louis Striedel Of Yorktown Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock. The baby daughter, Velma Lee Ida, received the sacrament of holy baptism at the side of the mother's casket. Grandparents from both sides of the family acted as sponsors. Interment was made on the Westside Cemetery. Rev. E.A. Sagebiel, pastor of the Luth. Church had charge of the services.

The young mother was born in Haw Creek, Fayette County, Texas on November 25, 1904. She was the third oldest of 7 children born unto Albert Schneider and his wife, nee Hulda Mutschler. Later she lived with her parents at Sample, Texas. At the time of her marriage to John Striedel on July 10, 1925, her parents resided at the Waller school house in the Westhoff community. The young couple were residents of that place until the present time. Mrs. Striedel became a member of the Lutheran Church in infancy by the rite of holy baptism. Later she was trained in the Christian doctrine to acquaint her with the way of salvation.

She leaves to mourn her early death her bereft husband and parents, her infant daughter and 6 sisters, Mrs. Albertine Conrad of Garfield, Mrs. Paula Striedel of Westhoff, and Misses Anita, Norma, Edna and Verlin (Varline) still at home, besides a large circle of relatives and friends.
