CANAJOHARIE. May 22 Funeral services for Michael P. Kane, Canajoharie fireman who was instantly killed Sunday night when he fell from a fire truck which was answering a call to the Dairymen's League creamery on Erie boulevard, will be held at the home, 16 West Main street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Harvey Connor, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Canajoharie Falls cemetery, where military services will be in charge of the members of Raymond W. Smith Post, American Legion. Members of the fire department will act as bearers.

Michael Kane was born in Troy, Oct. 20, 1889, son of Thomas J. and Catherine McCormick Kane, and had lived in Canajoharie since 1917. He came here first during the World war as a member of Company DJ Second Infantry, N.Y.N.G., for duty on the barge canal and railroads. Kane was discharged later for physical disability and returned to this village. He has been an employe at the candy plant of the Beech-Nut Company. He was active in the affairs of the Raymond W. Smith Post, of which he was sergeant-at-arms, and was past sergeant-at-arms of the County American Legion. He had been a member of the Canajoharie fire department for four years, and a member of Tarlajoras Tribe of Red Men. Mr. Kane was the first local fireman ever killed on duty.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Rose Surnear Kane; one daughter, Miss Catherine R. Kane, and one son, Michael P. Kane Jr.; one brother, Thomas Kane of Troy; one sister, Mrs. Joseph Leary of Long Island; several uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews.
