Lester Raymond Hoover was born the son of Samuel Edward Hoover and Lurena Ellen Leatherman. They are buried this cemetery. Lester was married to Dorothy Peyton Oliphant on November 8, 1917 at the Sunshine Mission in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is buried this cemetery. They were parents of six children: Donna Pauline (Hoover) Wright buried this cemetey; Charles Raymond Hoover buried this cemetery; Twin baby girls buried on the home farm dates unknown; Dean Myron Hoover; Mary Lou (Hoover) Jellison/Latham buried Maternity cemetery in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

~Obit~Funeral services were held January 21, 1958, at the Hoover Wesleyan Church near Quasqueton, for Lester Raymond Hoover. Mr. Hoover was killed on January 18 when bullets from a rifle struck him at the farm home of Robert Wright. The services were conducted by Rev. Forest Whitlatch of Cedar Rapids, and Rev. Walter Titus of Walker. Burial was in the Hoover Cemetery. Mr. Hoover was born November 25, 1898 near Quasqueton in Newton Township. He was the son of Samuel Edward Hoover and Lurena Ellen Leatherman. He attended the Hoover Church and the country schools. On November 8, 1917 he was married to Dorothy Oliphant of Walker, in a wedding ceremony at Cedar Rapids. Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Orva (Donna) Wright of Troy Mills, and Mary Lou Jellison of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sons, Dean of Walker and Charles of Independence. Eight grandchildren also survive. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Kyle (Doris) Stoner of Winthrop; three half-sisters: Mrs. Ralph (Ada) Kautz of Rowley, Mrs. Ray (Lurah) Krapf of Walker and Mrs. Arlie (Imogene) Sauer of Winthrop and his step-mother, Jennie Hoover of Rowley and an aunt, Mrs. George Price of Walker. Other relatives and many friends survive. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and a son-in-law George Jellison. He attened the Hoover Church and later attended the Church of Nazarene in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Hoover had farmed in the Quasqueton community all of his married life.
