OBITUARY
John Edward Davis was born September 21, 1855, in Blackhawk county, Iowa, and died at Savannah, Mo., August 24, 1926 at 11:45 p.m. age 70 years, 11 month and 3 days.
He was married to Clara Ellen Thompson at Fairview, Kansas on the 1st day of January, 1880. To this union nine children were born: Mrs. Chas. Deveny, Harley Davis, Cullie Davis, Harry Davis, Mrs. Albert Proctor, Lloyd Davis, all of Havensville, Mrs. L. E. Shull, Pleasant Hill, Mo., Mrs. Owen Followell, Corning, Kansas, Mrs Bonnie Jackson, Leavenworth, Kan.; nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He has one brother, Jimmie Davis of Nashville, Oregon; and two sisters, Mrs. M. S. Knox and Mrs. J. T. Poague of Havensville, living. Two sisters, Mrs. O. W. Grover and Mrs. Oscar Coldren having passed on before.
He united with the Methodist church of Havensville, February 8, 1914 and lived a good Christian life.
Funeral services were held from the Havensville Christian church, Tuesday afternoon, August 26 and the body laid to rest in the Havensville cemetery.
The family have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
