Migrated from North Carolina to Kemper County, Mississippi in 1833. He was the first probate judge and served as circuit clerk. He owned a blacksmith shop and gristmill, located southeast of DeKalb. Married Elizabeth Chambers Warren and they had 11 children:

Abel Mastin Key, Sr. is my g-g-grandfather.

Abel is the oldest child of John Key and Martha (Patsy) Davis. John and Patsy moved from NC to Kemper County in 1833 along with their children. John was a farmer. It is believed John and Patsy were living with their son Abel Mastin Key Sr. at the time of their deaths. There is no record of their burial location.

John Key:
Born: 20 Feb 1776 in Moore County, NC
Died: 28 February 1850 in Dekalb, Kemper County, MS
Burial: Unknown. I have completely photographed the small Key Cemetery near Dekalb. There is no marker or record of his being buried there.

Martha (Patsy) Davis:
Born: Abt 1779 in North Carolina
Died: 11 November 1859 in Dekalb, Kemper County, MS
Burial: Unknown. See John Key note.

John and Patsy had six children:

Hannah - 1811
Elizabeth - 1813
Cornelius - 1817
