Alpha P. Helton

Mount Carmel - Alpha P. Helton died Monday (Dec 30, 1996) at Wexford House Nursing Home.

Born in Duffield, Va., Mrs. Helton spent most of her life in Mount Carmel. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sneed Helton; her parents, Troy and Serena Peters Pennington; three sisters Oma Begley, Bertie Young and Elizabeth Ball; and three brothers, Masby, Monroe and Everett Pennington.

Surviving are five daughters, Geraldine Laster and Faye Koslow, both of Kingsport, Eva Mae Hamm, Sumter, S.C., Phoeba McCown, Toney Ala., and Kaye Doran, Church Hill, three sons, Troy Helton, Stafford, Va., Everett Helton, Kingsport, and Phil Helton, Edgerton, Ohio, 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Stella Oursler, Los Lunds, N.M., Beatrice Hughes and Bessie (Penny) Counts, both of Kingsport; and one brother, Lonnie Pennington, Alexandria, Ind.

Calling Hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dodson Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tom Lohr and the Rev. Benny Keck officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Church Hill Memory Gardens.
