MATTIE A. ATHERHOLT , 87, of Mitchellville, Md., passed away Thursday morning, September 10, 2009, in Crofton, Md. Born July 8, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mattie Litz Banta. Prior to moving to Maryland 50 years ago, she was a resident of Kingston. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Bowie, Md. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, in 1996. She is survived by daughters, Bonnie Turner, of Mitchellville, Md.; Arline Studley, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a grandson.
A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Fern Knoll Burial Park in Dallas, with the Rev. James C. Quinn officiating. Arrangements are by the Karl E. Blight Funeral Home, 392 Wyoming Ave., Kingston.
