Blodwen Price, 86, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Birchwood Nursing Home, Nanticoke.

She was born in Akron, Ohio, Dec. 19, 1922, a daughter of the late William I. and Hannah Davis Williams. She was a graduate of Forty Fort High School. During World War II, she was a Rosie the Riveter for the Goodyear Aircraft Company to aid the war effort. She was later employed at the Lazarus Department Store and at Isaac Longs in downtown Wilkes-Barre, and she retired from the RCA Corporation in Mountain Top.

Blodwen was an active member of Albright United Methodist in Wilkes-Barre. She especially loved to cook and work in the church kitchen. Mrs. Price was also a member of the church choir and the Rainbow Senior Citizens Club.
She volunteered and was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary.

Blodwen also loved to sing. She and her twin sister, Annie Mae Hixson, performed duets together, and Blodwen, along with her husband, Wayne E. Price, her sister, Annie Mae, and brother-in-law, Roy Price, often performed as a quartet together.

Another great love of Blodwen's was sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress, whether it was making clothing, drapes or upholstery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne E. Price, in 1997; and by a son, Wayne E. Price II; her brother, Edward Williams; twin sister Annie Mae Hixson; and sisters Ruth Edwards and Margaret Thorne.

Surviving are a daughter, Hannah Price; and her good friend, Daniel C. Ritter, Wilkes-Barre; Faye Swortz, Warrior Run; son-in-law Daniel C. Swortz Sr., Warrior Run; grandsons Wayne E. Gribble, Robert P. Price, Keith W. Gribble and Daniel C. Swortz Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; brother William Williams and his wife, Marie, Somerville, N.J.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday 10 a.m. in the Albright United Methodist Church, corner of Dana and Grove streets, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Anthony Brima, her Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call on Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, and on Saturday morning, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Albright United Methodist Church, corner of Dana and Grove streets, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
