We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Annie Doster Burkart, age 92, of Johns Island, SC who passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 in Elizabethtown, PA.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at 1:00 PM at Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Miller County, GA with Ernest Doster officiating.
Mrs. Burkart was born in Daleville, AL on January 21, 1917 to the late Reverend Simeon W. and Annie T. Doster. She graduated from Miller County High School in Colquitt, GA, from Freeman Business School in Albany, GA, and from Moody Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1939. Mrs. Burkart worked as a Registered Nurse with Lisenby Hospital in Panama City, FL, Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia, SC, St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, SC, Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC, the Charleston County School District, and various assignments as a private duty nurse. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Johns Island, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Simeon W. Doster and Annie T. Doster and her husband, Frank X. Burkart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA, 17604.
