Bill was an old crotchety guy that moused on our family farm for untold years. I think he may have been at least ten, if not fifteen years old, living first with my Uncle Win and Aunt Jane Polvadore, then with my Grandmother Katherine Polvadore, my parents and I. He had a cauliflower ear from a catfight, but it didn't seem to bother him one bit. In fact, nothing really bothered this old tom, at least when I knew him. You could pick him up, drag him around, put him under hats and blankets, stage kitty weddings. He was in cat retirement, and too busy relaxing to get riled up about anything. He was most often found napping in the sun with his pals Nagi and Marmaduke.
Bill disappeared one day, and Mom explained to me that he was old, and he wanted to go somewhere else to die so he wouldn't make everybody around him too sad.
Bill was a good farmer's companion and serene lap warmer. :)
