ATTENTION - If your doing genealogy of the Howell's of Morris County and Hunterdon County, New Jersey. This Howell line is descendent from Richard Howell of Southold, Long Island. DNA tests confirm that this line is descendent from Richard Howell and NOT Edward Howell, of Lynn, Massachusettes as previously assumed. Contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

In the book the Early Germans of New Jersey by Theodore Chambers it lists Stephen I Howell and Ann as having the following children:

Harriet who married Jacob Wills
Miriam who married Lewis Amerman
Virgil who married a Meeks (Virgil died in the Civil War)
Matilda who died young
Emily who married Hugh Paulison
George P. who married 1st Rachel Seals and 2nd Sarah Messler
Margaret m. Theo. B. Wortman
Melissa m. Sam. W. Seals
Albert rem. to Illinois
Elias his wife was Florence J. (Francis) McCarty
Henrietta who married John Scribner
Stephen who was unmarried
