Linda Mae Allard was born to Linden and Dorothea Myers Allard in Chariton, Iowa on May 12, 1947. She passed away at her home in Russell on Sept. 3, 2002 at the age of 55.

She grew up on a farm in Wayne County with her parents, where she attended Dry Flat rural School. She graduated from Russell High School in 1965 and then from York (Nebraska) College in 1967.

She went to work almost immediately after college graduation at Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative in Albia as a billing clerk and served as office manager for some 25 years.

She was baptized in April 1967 and became a member of Sunnyslope Church of Christ where she remained a dedicated member for the rest of her life. In 1978 after the death of her father, she and her mother moved into Russell where she spent the remainder of her life.

Linda enjoyed traveling, making trips to Florida, California, Texas, Washington, D.C. and other places of interest. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, making decorative photo albums, giving gifts to friends and relatives and growing flowers.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and a very special great-niece, Stacy Halferty.
