Obituary from The Messenger of Truth Issue 7, 2001:

Elsie Delila Dirks Ratzlaff was born on August 2, 1918, at Durham, Kansas, to Albert and Marie Shultz Dirks. She passed from this life on February 18, 2001, at Bethel Home in Montezuma, Kansas. She reached the age of eighty-two years.
In her girlhood, Mother lived with her parents in a sod house at Walsh, Colorado. Later the family moved to Fredonia, Kansas.
In her early teenage years, Mother accepted Jesus as her Savior. On March 17, 1933, she was baptized by Min. Albert Unruh in a little schoolhouse in Buckeye, Colorado, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
She was married to Herman Ratzlaff on July 11, 1935, at Syracuse, Kansas. Fourteen children were born to this union. Herman died on March 23, 2000.
In 1943, our family moved to Scott County, Kansas. Mother became a charter member of the Scott Mennonite Church and made many friends in the church and community.
Mother was an energetic worker. For twenty-seven years, she worked at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City, Kansas, caring for hundreds of patients and delivering many babies.
Mother had a strong faith in God. She loved the Bible and believed all of it. That faith carried her through the sad and difficult times in life. In 1995, she made a special commitment of her life to God. It was evident to all who knew her that her heart was settled and that she was happy in the Lord. She told us that she was ready to leave this life and prepared to be with her Savior. We believe she is with Him today.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include eight sons: Chester and wife Freda, Scott City, Kansas; Virgil, Scott City, Kansas; Garry, Garden City, Kansas; Delbert, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Leonard, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Milford, Lafayette, Colorado; Mike and wife Rose, Russellville, Arizona; and Galen, Scott City, Kansas; three daughters: Virginia and husband Errol Koehn, Montezuma, Kansas; Joyce and husband Manford Koehn, Garden City, Kansas; and Glenda and husband Terry Ryan, Scott City, Kansas; five brothers: Marvin Dirks and wife Lucille; Floyd Dirks and wife Vivian; Albert Dirks Jr. and wife Donna; Howard Dirks and wife Lou; and Maurice Dirks and wife Joann, all of Scott City, Kansas; four sisters: Elizabeth and husband Harvey Koehn, McPherson, Kansas; Norma and husband Curtis Unruh, Galva, Kansas; Lillian and husband C. A. Schroeder, Scott City, Kansas; and Willetta and husband Ralph Payne, Scott City, Kansas; twenty-one grandchildren
