Thomas Ralph Vines was a graduate of Depew High School and after graduation went to Hayden, Arizona where he worked for the Kennecott Mining Company. In 1961, he met and married Phyllis Jean Carroll, in Drumright, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Hayden for a few years, but moved back to Oklahoma where he was employed by Continental Oil Company in Ponca City until the time of his death at the age of 29. He was survived by his wife, Phyllis, and sons, Benny Vines of Globe, Arizona, and Michael Anthony Vines of the home. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Orl Vines, but survived by his mother, Lora Aleyene Petty Vines, and sister, Sharon Kay Johns, both of Depew.
Tommy, as he was referred to by his family, was much loved and respected. His disposition was most normally cheerful and outgoing. He honored his widowed mother by caring for her needs as he was able. He had a pleasant singing voice and would often be coaxed to sing impromtu duets with his sister.
