Private funeral services for Second Lieutenant Elmer R. Koontz, 24, former resident of Detroit Michigan, who was killed in action in Belgium Nov. 25, 1944 will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Householder Funeral Home, Rev. R.F. Hall will conduct the service and reburial, with military rites under the auspices of Newark Post American Legion, will be made in Wilson Cemetery.
Lt. Koontz, born Feb. 7, 1920 in Detroit Michigan, was the son of Locke and Nellie (Hill) Koontz, former Newark residents. He was inducted into the U.S. Army June 27, 1942, and served with Company G, 116th Infantry, 29th Division.
Surviving are his parents; three brothers, William, George and Richard Koontz of Detroit, and his grandmother, Mrs. Frank Hill of Detroit. A Sister, Eleanor is deceased. He was married Feb. 8, 1942 to Fern Black of Huntington WV, who is now Mrs. Glen Werts of Washington D.C.
The body will be received at the funeral home this afternoon.
