Funeral services for Max Junior Whitaker, 52, Route 2, Nampa, who died at his home Sunday, Aug. 18, 1974, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.

Bishop C. Jay Thurgood of the Meridian Second Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will officiate. Interment will be at the Meridian Cemetery.

Mr. Whitaker was born June 9, 1922, at Brigham City, Utah, and was reared and attended school there. He attended Brigham Young University and graduated from Utah State University at Logan, Utah with his bachelor degree in 1949. He obtained his masters degree from Utah State in 1967. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War 2 as an aviation radio technician first class. He was married to Mildred J. Shaw Sept. 10, 1946 at the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple.

Mr. Whitaker had taught industrial arts in the Nampa School system since 1949.

He was a member of the Meridian Second Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: he served as secretary of the Nampa Education Ass'n, of which he was a member; and he was a life member of the National Education Ass'n. He was currently serving as the elders quorum secretary of the Meridian Second Ward LDS Church, in which he was a very active member. He had served in the Nampa Stake Sunday School superintendency as well as other positions.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred J. Whitaker, of Route 2, Nampa; three sons, Steven M. Whitaker, Boise, Thomas G. and Warren R., both of Nampa; three daughters, Mrs. Deanne K. Bearnes, Tucson, Ariz., Barbara J. Whitaker and Beverly J. Whitaker, both of Nampa; one sister, Mrs. Adele Bailey, Castro Valley, Calif.; and by three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel this evening until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday morning until 9 a.m
