Paternal grandparents were Tomas PINN of Schüller, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany & Anna Helena GOERGEN of Üxheim, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfaltz, Germany.
Maternal grandparents were Johannis Nicolaus GIEFER of Ahrdorf, Blankenheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and Anna Catharina MEYER/MEIER of Leudersdorf, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany.

The farmer, John Pinn of Üxheim, who left the country in 1881, states: "The family was formerly in considerably good condition. By the fire in Üxheim, then by hail impact and poor harvests of the last years, the family has come down in its financial circumstances completely"."
