Roy Fuller Ames was the fourth of eight children born to Abraham Warren Ames (1856-1926) and his wife Linda Welch Ames (1863-1916) of Lynn, Essex Co., MA. He grew up in Lynn where his father worked in a shoe factory. He married Josephine A. Clark, daughter of William H. and Lucy Clark of Lynn. The couple lived in Lynn and raised six children: Eleanor F., Ralph F., Evelyn Gertrude, Morton L., Leslie Vernon, and Wilbur Wendell. Roy worked as a clerk and later as a salesman for an ice company. He died at age 38.
