Doris Arlene (Jones) Bidwell, 83 of Byron, MN died Monday, August 17, 2009 at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester, MN.
She was born on February 19, 1926 in Vestal, NY, the daughter of Leland and Estella Jones. She graduated from Vestal High School in 1943. On February 26, 1944, she married Oscar Bidwell in Newark Valley, NY. In 1946 upon the death of her father-in-law, she and Oscar took in Oscar's four brothers to raise and in 1957 they moved to Byron, MN.
Doris was a wonderful, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Bidwell of Alexandria, MN; 2 sons, Keith (Tammy) Bidwell of Rochester, MN and Carroll and his significant other, Sue of Rochester, MN; 1 daughter-in-law, Diana of Monticello, MN; 7 grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Jenkins and Tony, Kelly, Rachel and Kevin, Tyler and Trevor; and 4 great grandchildren, Jonathon, KateLynn, Sevanna and Dylan; 1 brother, Lacey (Shirley) Jones of Gouveneur, New York; 3 sisters, Reba Andrews of Oneida, NY, Sandra (Harold) Roth of Vestal, NY and Louellen Jones of Sauquoit, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, her husband, Oscar and 1 son, Bruce.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Byron United Methodist Church (507 1st Avenue NW in Byron, MN) Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be at the Byron Cemetery.
