Sarah was the daughter of Elisha Hard (1783-1860) and Jemima Norton Hard (1786-1875). When six years old moved with parents to Madison County Ohio and then to Franklin County OH in 1815. Moved to Delaware County OH upon marriage. Lived there 38 years and then moved to Kankakee County IL.
On November 22 1827 in Darby, Madison, Ohio she married Horatio Preston Havens. They had 9 children: Reuben, Lydia, Horatio, Ralph, Mary Alice, Elisha E., Robert, Adeline, and Ansel D.
