Son of Aaron and Rebecca (Moore) Fisher. Ezra Fisher was a native of New England. He was a descendant of Anthony Fisher who came from Syleham, County, England, in 1637 and settled at Dedham, Mass. Ezra was educated at Amherst College followed by Newton Theological Seminary, where he studied until January, 1830. He married Lucy Taft on Feb. 7th 1830. In 1845 the Fisher family along with the Hezekiah Johnson family, started the journey to Oregon under the commission of the Baptist Home Mission Society. He labored for twenty-five years for the Baptist Church. He preached his last sermon in The Dalles, on October 18, 1874. He was a quiet, kindly and dignified man.
