Father Asahel Parker (who was son of John Parker and Lydia Castle) buried in the Carter Cemetery. Asahel first joined the British in the Revolutionary War, but shortly after losing his father and brother, returned home and joined the local militia against the British.

Mother Phoebe Finch (daughter of Samuel and Anna Finch) who died before 1810 in Ontario County, New York.

Father Asahel remarried and relocated to Lorain County, Ohio area.

Mary "Polly" first married Ezra John Crandall. Note grandson James Crandall is buried in lot next to Polly.

Next she married Henry B. Bates, who is buried in the Carter Cemetery with her father Asahel and sisters Mrs. Lydia and Mrs. Anna Bentley. A published sketch of Henry Bates:
In 1815 Henry Bates and Peter Kinsley, soldiers in the English army, deserted and crossed the Niagara River under the fire of the English and came into the lines of the Americans. In 1818 they came to New London. Bates married Phebe Hendryx, a daughter of Anthony Hendryx. His second wife was Phebe Root, a sister of Samuel Parker's wife and his third wife was Polly Parker (Crandall), a sister of Samuel Parker. In 1828 he bought 50 acres of land near the Livermore settlement, but sold it the next year. He once lived across the road from Dr. McMillan's house. He went to Florence and from there to Camden, where he died.

Widowed Polly is buried next to her thrice married daughter Sarah Twining and on the other side, probable grandson, Willie Bates, son of William Bates who died in Civil War.

This author is direct descendent of her son William Bates and wife Amelia French. Family researchers are encouraged to make contact.
