Survivors include two sons, sister Mary Doss of Trenton, Mo, and a brother Maynard Couch. Five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren Nicholas, Also surviving is a sister-in-law Geneva Rienhart.
Marv was preceded in death by a young brother Melvin, in childhood and another brother McGill and wife Grace Couch.
Marvin W. Couch began life on Feb. 18, 1912 when he was born to Clarence A. and Reba Walz Couch in Chillicothe Mo. He was raised in Utica, MO. He was a president of his graduating class and also captain of the basketball team. He became a welder for Cooley Gravel Pit and Milwaukee Railroad and Started in 1938 working for LaPlant Choate. He worked his way up through management at LaPlant Choate, Allis Chalmers and retired from P & H Harnischfeger's as manager of Quality Control.
Marvin married Beulah L. Breunsbach of Home, KS. On July 7, 1936 in Chillicothe Mo. He met her while she was going to Chillicothe Business College and stayed at his aunt's rooming house. Beulah passed away Feb. 28, 2002 after 66 years of marriage. They enjoyed many trips here and abroad. They became members of First Lutheran Church in 1948, where they both were very active in the church throughout their lives. Marv served in many capacities and was elected to vice President to the church council. He and his good friend George Lowe called the Rev. T.A. Youngquist to become a new pastor of First Lutheran.
Marv took care of Beulah after she fell and broke her leg and was in a wheelchair till she died. One and a half months later he fell and broke his leg and his artificial hip side. He then moved to Winslow House Care Center, where he received good care until his death.
The sports Marvin enjoyed the most were golf, bowling, and fishing. He made 33 fishing trips to Edwards Lake in Vermilion Bay Canada with his family. Marv was a Mason and became High Priest in 1945 on May 20, 1955. He became a Shriner on May 20, 1955. Marv knew computers were the coming things. He knew something about them so he bought one to learn on. When the programs didn't do what he wanted it to he went to the library to learn how to write his own programs.
