Headline: Mrs. Mattie Boyett Dies Of Heart Attack July 27th
Mrs. Mattie Boyett, 72 years, 7 months, and 2 days of age, died suddenly Saturday evening, July 27, at her home on Route 4, Winnfield, following a heart attack. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 28, at 3:30 o'clock at the Zion Hill Church with Rev. Alwin Stokes, of Winnfield, conducting the last rites. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hixson Funeral Home of Winnfield. Pallbearers were grandsons and sons-in-law, Lendon Creel, Charles Creel, Gordon Carson, A. D. Carson, I. C. Creel, and C. L. Rowell.

Mrs. Boyett was born December 25, 1874, in Lincoln Parish, and was reared and educated in Jackson and Winn Parishes. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Chandler of Vernon. In 1894 she married James Albert Boyett, who preceded her in death eleven years ago. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist of Ephueus Church near Ruston.

Surviving are her four daughters, Mrs. A. D. Carson of Shreveport, Mrs. I. C. Creel of Winnfield, Route 4, Mrs. C. L. Rowell of Lake Charles, and Mrs. Dan Oden of Pine Bluff, Ark.; three sons, Jesse Boyett of Winnfield, Lloyd and Howard Boyett of Route Four, Winnfield; two brothers, Robert Chandler of Route 4, Winnfield, and Willie Chandler of Quitman; two sisters, Mrs. Della Cooper and Mrs. Evie Albright, both of Quitman; twenty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
