Ashley Farwell "Rusty" Rust, 76, of 2010 Alderson Avenue, died Friday, December 24, 1993, at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

He was born October 17, 1917, in Glendive, the son of Genevieve (Farwell) and Spencer Rust. They moved to Circle, where he graduated from Circle High School in 1936. He was in the Army Corps of Engineers, 804th Aviation Battalion from November 29, 1940 to September 17, 1945, and he was a Pearl Harbor survivor.

He established Billings Floor Company in 1946, which he operated until selling and retiring in 1975.

He married Laura (Young) Sump on October 20, 1951, in Bozeman.

Rusty was active in the community as a past president of the Pearl Harbor Association, past commander of the VFW Post 1634, a member of the American Legion, a charter member of the Pryor Mountain Masonic Lodge and a member of the Al Bedoo Shrine. He was awarded the Grand Cross Member by the Order of Rainbow for the Girls and the Legion of Honor & Hats Off Award by the Order of DeMolay. He was also active in the YMCA, a past leader in the Boy Scouts of America, a member and Past President of the 59er's Square Dance Club, member of the Challengers Square Dance Club, a Charter Member of Grace United Methodist Church and member of the Northern Rockies Cancer Support Group.

Survivors include his wife, Laura; four children; five grandchildren; one half-brother; and two half-sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, at the First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Temple, Box 21297, Billings, Montana 59104; YMCA, 402 North 32nd, Billings, Montana 59101, or the Northern Rockies Cancer Center, 1041 North 29th, Billings, Montana 59101.
