Don attained the rank of Tec 4 in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from working as a security guard of Northrop Aircraft Company. He was married to Mila Margaret Pisney December 1st 1942. After the war, they moved to California and Margaret resumed teaching. The family moved to Palmdale in 1957 and all thoroughly enjoyed the terrific climate that the upper desert offered.
He enjoyed wood working, gardening and music.
They lived in the valley for 26 years and in California for 40 years.
