Obiturary:
MACOMB, IL - Cpt. (Ret) David Birtus Herbst, age 57, of 832 West Chase St. passed away at 1:57 a.m. on April 10, 2009 at his home in Macomb.
He was born on August 20, 1951, in Renton, Washington, the son of David and Marie Farnworth Herbst. He married Sharon Tilleman on February 2, 1974. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents, David and Marie Herbst of Southern California; two sons, John and Jason Herbst of Macomb; two daughters, Jamie (Shannon) Hill of Atlanta, Georgia and Jennylyn (Emerson) Lanier of Salt Lake City, Utah and two grandchildren, Mya and Ellie Herbst.
David was in the Army for many years. He and his wife Sharon had lived in Hawaii, Germany and the USA. They later moved to Macomb where he worked as the Building Services Supervisor for Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Macomb, Illinois.
Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Church.
Memorials may be made to MDH Hospice or American Cancer Society for prostate cancer.
