Richard Holsteen
Richard Ray Holsteen, 66, of the Guegeler Group Home, Hope Haven, died at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born April 22, 1943, in Des Moines County, he was the son of Robert Wittwill and Geraldine Washburne Holsteen.

Mr. Holsteen worked at Hope Haven doing various jobs for companies throughout the community. He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed being at the farm, TV, books, drawing, nature, history and photography. He enjoyed conversation.

Survivors include two brothers, Dan Holsteen of Wapello and David Holsteen of Burlington; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington.

The funeral for Mr. Holsteen will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Sue Ellen Sherman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
